Get up-close and take a good look at materials and textiles in the workshops at our makerspace. Printed fashion shows itself from its sustainable, and quite comfortable, side in “3D Print it, wear it, compost it”. Printing it, wearing it, and eventually placing it back into the cycle, is easier than ever here. First come, first serve is the name of the game for all of our workshops, as there’s no registering ahead of time. That means, hurry up! 

Out of love for our motto and with some tech help, you can sew on your very own, personal declaration of love in the Your Heart on your Sleeve! Make your message wearable workshop. Be it thoughts on diversity and equality or political statements:  #FASHIONTECH LAB BERLIN definitely moves far beyond simple eye candy. With increasingly intelligent, integrated technology in clothing items like running shoes or watches, questions concerning data security have now also found their way into fashion. The speakers at the Fashion Tech and Privacy-by-Design workshops want to offer practical solutions for integrating data protection laws into considerations on products that use these technologies. Besides legal insights, you will be discussing the risks, user friendliness and transparency of such products with the workshop leaders, using specific examples from fashiontech.

You can also solder and shine your way to some glowing jewellery. The Glowing Vonoroi Pendant workshop will give you a short introduction into the basics of electronics and soldering so that you can create your very own glowing necklace, right then and there. The best thing about this fashion technology: you’ll be taking your necklace straight home with you. Glowing bacteria; deep-sea jewellery chooses biotechnology as fashion’s partner. It isn’t just about how ocean microorganisms can be harnessed and integrated into wearable jewellery, but also deals with the general question of how can we begin to think more creatively about designing with biology.

#FASHIONTECH LAB BERLIN is curated by the re:publica and is a cooperation with the  PREMIUM International Fashion Trade Show. It brings together gadgets, hacking and design: The attendance of 4,000 visitors to the last event in February 2017 shows just how contemporary this crossover is.
