For the fourth time, MEDIA CONVENTION Berlin (MCB), presented by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg (MBB) and Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb), will take place alongside re:publica in STATION Berlin. Joint tickets enable participants to attend both events – #mcb17 and #rp17.
Over the past years, MEDIA CONVENTION Berlin has developed to one of Europe's most important media congresses. From 8-10 May 2017 German and international experts from the fields of media, science and politics will meet and exchange ideas with decision-makers and stakeholders in the digital economy and tackle questions on media and digital policy, market trends, and the development of the media society. The conference is marked by interdisciplinary, open and discursive talks, inspiring discussions, and workshops, paired with a unique mix of participants: startups meet global players, film makers meet gaming geeks, digital activists meet directors, bloggers meet editors, media policy politicians meet developers.
At MCB 2016 over 180 speakers provided content for 40 session on three stages. International industry leads such as Morgan Wandell (Amazon Studios), Mark Little (Twitter) and Nick van Dyk (Activision Blizzard Studios), digital philosopher Luciano Floridi ("The Fourth Revolution") and whistleblower Edward Snowden, net-neutrality expert Barbara van Schewick, producers Dan Maag (Pantaleon) and Willi Geicke (Warner Bros.) met with young and innovative media creators, such as Rayk Anders, Bea Knecht and Daniel Budiman, as well as actors and entertainers, such as Matthias Schweighöfer and Friedrich Liechtenstein.
In recent years, MCB speakers have included national and international figures such as Netflix founder Reed Hastings, policymakers such as Hamburg Mayor Olaf Scholz, media innovators such as YouTube star LeFloid, political activists such as Pussy Riot and The Yes Men, and media creators such as Stefan Niggemeier.
