Rainer Kresken is a graduate engineer in aerospace technolgy and works at the European Space Operations Centre  ESOC in Darmstadt on the operation of the astronomical observatory satellite missions XMM-Newton and Integral. He studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Technical University in Aachen, Germany.  Rainer Kresken is an avid amateur astronomer at the Starkenburg observatory in Heppenheim, Germany and he is commited to public outreach for astronomy and sciences in general
