Welcome to Berlin! Opening GIG & re:connecting Europe

re:publica
re:publica 2017

Short thesis:

We invite all participants from the Global Innovation Gathering and from re:connecting Europe to come to the opening of the spaces and get to know each other.

Description:

Networking the digital society and creating spaces for the exchange of ideas has always been the aim of the re:publica. This year, we want to strengthen that aspect further, which is why we are going to have the re:connecting EUROPE Space at the re:publica 2017. Together with the German Federal Foreign Office, we will be gathering experts, media representatives, international organisations and decision-makers from Germany and the port cities of Dublin and Thessaloniki at #rp17 to discuss the common challenges and solutions facing activists, founders and artists in Europe.

The Global Innovation Gathering (GIG) brings together innovation hub managers, makers, hackers and entrepreneurs from across the world. In the last four years GIG has become a central part of the conference programme, showcasing tech innovation and maker projects from Asia, Africa and Latin America. The GIG members have formed a strong community, exchanging information and expertise on innovation and maker issues throughout the year.

At re:publica 2017 GIG will once again come together for its fifth annual gathering; its members will take over the #rp17 stages on numerous occasions during the three re:publica days. Like last year, GIG will host a pop-up Makerspace together with the FabLab Berlin where participants can learn about innovation in hardware, tinker, solder and get their hands sticky in various workshops.

Together, we will open our makerspace & the re:connecting Europe space to strenghthen these international ties.
