re:publica 2017

Short thesis:

We will be using digital fabrication technologies to create our own textile tool: a weaving loom that you will be able to bring home to start weaving your own textiles. This doesn’t only enable you to learn the basics of weaving but also the ones of laser cutting. The workshop is meant to inspire to use digital fabrication technologies to make tools and to encourage to combine both digital and analog production techniques.

Description:

We will be using digital fabrication technologies to create our own textile tool: a weaving loom that you will be able to bring home to start weaving your own textiles.

In the first part of the workshop you will learn the basics of laser cutting. What is the difference between engraving, etching and cutting? What do you have to consider making your file? What materials you can use? In the second part we will talk about warp and weft, the basic principles of binding and draft making. Then you can start weaving!

The workshop is meant to inspire to use digital fabrication technologies to make tools and to encourage to combine both digital and analog production techniques.

The number of participants for the workshop is limited to 10. There is a sign up sheet available at the Makerspace - first come first serve.
