Glowing bacteria; deep-sea jewellery
Short thesis:
Description:
Fashion is an entity seeking love and life. For this installation, we create a secret space for fashion and biology to meet. Deep in the darkness of a black box, a symbiosis of microbiology and human-machine craft. A set of four jewellery pieces will be on display illuminating the love of deep-sea life. The pieces of jewellery are made from acrylic and light optic fibers using a 3d printer and laser cutter. This installation will get you exploring the world of citizen science and digital fabrication. It is also meant as a follow-up from Mirela Alistair's workshop, where she begins with introducing the culture onto agar in a petri-dish. Next step is manipulating the media, to be adapted for any design project.
The number of participants for the workshop is limited to 15. There is a sign up sheet available at the Makerspace - first come first serve.
