Save the date: 29th June / Fashiontech @ Kühlhaus

Even bigger and more exciting: the 6th #FASHIONTECH Berlin conference on 29 June 2016 at Kühlhaus will be held on 2 full floors, with one floor as a dedicated exhibition space for startups and other floor featuring talks on the interface of fashion and technology.

This event format, created by us in cooperation with PREMIUM Fashion Trade Show, once again proves that it has its finger on the pulse of important topics and discussion within digitisation of the fashion industry. Fashion experts, industry insiders, designers, startup entrepreneurs and creatives meet and network during this one-day event, get to know exciting projects and scope out potential future business opportunities.

The successes of past events, including the 3100 visitors during January's Fashion Week, have shown how important the #FASHIONTECH Berlin's conference themes are. With this in mind, its 6th edition will expand and take over two full floors allowing for increased space to discuss the convergence of fashion and technology. The fourth floor will host new technologies and projects presented by various brands and exciting startups. The fifth floor will be home to the stage programme. The three core themes centre on “Wearables & Design”, “E-Commerce & The Future of Retail” and “Digital Marketing & Communication” and will be accompanied by a keynote speech, hands-on examples, best practices and startup pitches:

Wearables & Design

6th Fashiontech: Bigger than ever!

The keynote on the first core theme will be presented by Muchaneta Kapfunde from the London-based fashion tech and lifestyle platform FashNerd.com. Kapfunde will talk about the image of wearable technology in the fashion industry and how she tries the counter the preconception that wearbles are not fashionable enough for every-day clothing. The keynote will be followed by a discussion round with Antje Hundhausen (Deutsche Telekom), Christin Eisenschmidt (Intel Germany GmbH), Dirk Schönberger (Adidas Sport Style Division), Prof. Dr. Gesche Joost (Universität der Künste UdK) and Lisa Lang (ElektroCouture) on future developments in the convergence of fashion and tech.

This will be followed by the presentation of Telekom's new project “Fashion Fusion” Dr. Christian Ehler and Agnieszka Wojdyr from the EU Commission. Together they will highlight the development of digitisation from the EU perspective and present current EU projects and activities which aim to strengthen the connection between creation and new technologies for the fashion sector.

Afterwards, we are happy to welcome Christian Ehler and Agnieszka Wojdyr from the EU Commission on stage. Together they will highlight the development of digitisation from the EU perspective and present current EU projects and activities which aim to strengthen the connection between creation and new technologies for the innovative fashion sector.

Canadian fashion-tech journalist Amanda Cosco will talk more about wearable technologies. Amanda is also an entrepreneur who created the fashion-tech event series Electric Runway. She will talk about how wearables will challenge our relation to technology and how e-textiles and “connected” clothing will turn our bodies into interfaces.

This topic will be further analysed in a discussion round focusing on innovations in the field of smart textiles. Speakers include Olaf Schmidt (Messe Frankfurt); Dr. Jan Zimmermann from Forster Rohner AG, an embroidery company known for their technical embroideries with sensros and RFID technology; and Philipp G. Schwarz from Wearable Life Sciences GmbH, a company which develops active sportswear featuring electronic muscle stimulation (EMS).

E-Commerce & The Future of Retail

Full house at Fashiontech in January 2016

This track will be opened by Genevieve Kunst from ShopStyle by POPSUGAR Europe and will be followed by Luis Manent and his Wide Eyes Technology startup, which seeks to revolutionise search requests. He will explain the evolution from semantic to visual searches and present ways in which image recognition technologies can help improve customer experience, customer loyalty and sales. Dr. Philipp Seybold will follow by presenting a further startup – combyne. Its a mobile app through which a user can put together her individual piece of clothing out of a curated fashion database.

In the Best Practices part of the track, Nicolas Kroeger from Modotex and René Bittner from Sheego will talk about their successful projects. Designer shop Sheego used the first purely digital fashion marketing agency modotex to roll out 6500 products on 25 online marketing channels in only 30 days.

Digital Marketing & Communication

In the third track of the day, Philipp Westermeyer from the industry platform Online Marketing Rockstars will use the keynote to present this summer's strategies by the marketing pioneers. Instagram star Pamela Reif and Christoph Kastenholz form Pulse Advertising will follow with their thoughts on Influencer Marketing.
