Michael Ang
Artist / Engineer
Michael Ang is a Canadian artist and engineer whose work applies technology to create light objects, interactive installations, and software tools that re-appropriate the digital into a physical form. He applies a hacker’s aesthetic to playfully subvert the dissociative effects of technology to reconnect us to the present moment.
Michael is the community leader for the MadeByUs artist-maker community at SPEKTRUM. MadeByUs is building a Makerlab at SPEKTRUM as a center for artistic research and co-production using tools for digital fabrication.
As an open source software engineer he has contributed to several projects including the Internet Archive BookReader, Mozilla Firefox, and Linux.
