Bassant Helmi is an expert in development, business and international relations with 22 years of working experience in designing, managing and executing social and economic development projects in the MENA region and Germany. For the past 16 years, she has been the representative of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and commerce in Berlin (GACIC) as well as Founder and CEO of the German non-profit organization Global Project Partners e.V. She was chosen as a member of the Advisory Board of the GACIC in 2015 and of the Maghreb Economic Forum in 2016.
Bassant was responsible for the development and successful execution of a large number of projects specifically geared towards supporting Arab businesswomen, fair trade organisations, vocational and educational training, export consultancy for developing countries and knowledge transfer in the field of renewable energies. Bassant is proficient in Arabic, German and English. She studied in Cairo and in London and has a MSc degree from the London School of Economics (LSE). As a German citizen from Egyptian origin, she has developed a wide range of skills that make her uniquely qualified for building bridges of cooperation and mutual understanding between Germany and the MENA region.
