Love Out Loud
re:publica 2017

Short thesis:

The digital era has changed how we seek and receive love. Technology has facilitated our relationships. However, the digital revolution is presenting huge risks in our love lives – usually without our knowledge or consent. Are you aware of all of the risks and implications of digital love?

In this session, we will talk about love in the digital area. We will explore how our love interactions are being influenced by social media, dating applications, connected devices and artificial intelligence, data breaches, corporate and government surveillance. While technology has provided several benefits to our love lives, our relationships are often a business. The Internet of Things, for example, has brought connected sex toys with unclear levels of protections for security and privacy. Are we always aware of the consequences of using certain services, platforms or applications? What can you do to keep enjoying your love life in a way it respects your rights and freedoms?
