The design of an interactive street sign refers to an analysis method developed for a navigational application that predicts the beauty and security of a place. This method should automatize the crowdsourcing process based on geo-tagged social media pictures, through which crowdsourcing should become cheap and scalable. The aim of the installation is to trigger discussion about the contradictory issue of software interpreting the beauty and security of a place.
The interactive street sign is mountable in public places and points in the direction of the closest most beautiful place, according to either citizens’ input or the criteria of the analysis method. A linked website provides insights into the background information of the analysis method, namely how places were rated as beautiful and secure and where and which kind of social media data fulfill the suggested criteria. In addition, it is possible to change the direction of the arrow and save that direction where the user thinks the closest most beautiful place is.
You can discover the interactive street sign somewhere on the #rp17 area, where exactly is not revealed, so keep your eyes peeled!
